YAML formatter and validator
Validate your YAML, see the line and column of the error, and re-indent it keeping comments.
Processed on your device: your file never leaves your computer
Up to 50 files, 50 MB max each.
What YAML formatter and validator does
The YAML formatter validates config files such as docker-compose, Kubernetes or CI pipelines and re-indents them evenly with 2 or 4 spaces. It keeps comments, anchors and every document separated by ---. If there is a syntax error or a repeated key, it shows the line and column.
Limits
- Up to 50 files at a time, up to 50 MB each.
- With Pro: up to 500 files per batch.
- A job that takes longer than 2 minutes is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.
- Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Why is there no tab option?
Because YAML doesn't allow tabs for indentation: a file indented with tabs is not valid.
Are my comments kept?
Yes. Full-line and end-of-line comments are kept, as are anchors and aliases.
Does it catch repeated keys?
Yes. A repeated key at the same level is an error in YAML, and many programs silently take the last one; here you get a warning with its position.
