Base64 decode

Turn Base64 or a data URL back into the original text or file, with its type detected.

Processed on your device: your file never leaves your computer

or click to choose them from your device

Up to 50 files, 50 MB max each.

What Base64 decode does

Base64 decode recovers the original bytes from Base64 text or a data URL and gives you the file to download. It detects the type from the data URL or the content (PNG, JPG, PDF and more) and picks the extension; if the result is text, it is shown so you can copy it. Line breaks, the URL-safe alphabet (- and _) and missing = padding are accepted.

Limits

  • Up to 50 files at a time, up to 50 MB each.
  • With Pro: up to 500 files per batch.
  • A job that takes longer than 2 minutes is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.
  • Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which file was inside?

If the Base64 comes in a data URL, its declared type is used; otherwise it is recognized from the content. If it can't be recognized, it downloads as .bin with the exact bytes.

Why does it say it isn't valid Base64?

Because it contains characters outside the Base64 alphabet or a piece is missing. Check that you copied all of it.

Is the decoded file identical to the original?

Yes, byte for byte. Decoding doesn't recompress or change anything.
