What Word and character counter does
The word counter instantly shows how many words, characters (with and without spaces), sentences, paragraphs and lines your text has, plus an estimated reading time. It counts characters as they appear, so an emoji or an accented letter counts as one, and it finds words in Chinese too, which has no spaces. You can also switch the text to UPPER CASE, lower case, Title Case or Sentence case, copy it or download it.
Limits
- A job that takes longer than 1 minute is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.

Frequently asked questions
Does it count like Word or Google Docs?
Almost always. Hyphenated words or numbers with commas may differ, because each program applies its own rules; this one uses the Unicode rules for the page's language.
Can I count a file?
Yes: open a text file (.txt, .md, .csv, .srt…) and it loads into the box. If it comes from Windows with accents in another encoding, that is detected automatically.
How is the reading time calculated?
At 200 words per minute, rounded up.
