What Color converter does
The color converter reads a color in HEX, RGB, HSL, OKLCH or by its CSS name and shows it in all of those formats, ready to copy into your CSS or design tool. It also calculates the color's contrast on a background following the WCAG 2 guidelines and tells you whether it meets AA and AAA for normal and large text, so your text stays readable.

Frequently asked questions
What is OKLCH for?
It describes colors by lightness, chroma and hue in a way that matches how we perceive them. It makes harmonious palettes easier, and every modern browser accepts it in CSS.
How much contrast does text need?
Level AA asks for at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text; level AAA, 7:1 and 4.5:1.
Does it accept transparent colors?
Yes: #RRGGBBAA, rgb(… / 0.5) and similar. For contrast, the color is blended with the background the way a browser would.
