YAML to JSON
Convert YAML (including multiple documents and anchors) into valid JSON. Your files are never uploaded.
Processed on your device: your file never leaves your computer
Up to 50 files, 50 MB max each.
What YAML to JSON does
YAML to JSON reads YAML 1.2 files, including ones with several documents separated by ---, anchors and aliases, and merge keys (<<) like those in docker-compose or GitLab CI, and produces indented JSON. Several documents become a list. Custom tags are never executed: they are read as text.
Limits
- Up to 50 files at a time, up to 50 MB each.
- With Pro: up to 500 files per batch.
- A job that takes longer than 2 minutes is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.
- Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to open an unknown YAML file?
Yes. No code runs, and files with too many aliases, which can multiply their size until the device freezes (the billion laughs attack), are rejected with a warning.
Why doesn't yes become true?
Because in YAML 1.2, the current standard, only true and false are booleans. Likewise, dates stay as text in the JSON.
What if there are repeated keys or a syntax error?
You will see a warning instead of an incomplete JSON: a repeated key in the same object is an error in YAML.
