JSON to YAML
Convert JSON into readable YAML for config files, Kubernetes or CI. In your browser.
Processed on your device: your file never leaves your computer
Up to 50 files, 50 MB max each.
What JSON to YAML does
JSON to YAML rewrites your JSON data as block-indented YAML, easier to read and edit by hand in config files, Kubernetes manifests, docker-compose files or CI pipelines. Strings an older YAML reader would take as something else (yes, no, on, 007, dates) are quoted so they keep their type.
Limits
- Up to 50 files at a time, up to 50 MB each.
- With Pro: up to 500 files per batch.
- A job that takes longer than 2 minutes is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.
- Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Why are some values quoted?
Because without quotes some YAML 1.1 readers would read them differently: yes and on as true, 007 as a number or 2020-01-01 as a date. Quotes make sure they stay text.
Are order and types kept?
Yes. Keys keep their order, and numbers, booleans and null are written with their YAML type. Long lines are not wrapped.
Can I convert several files at once?
Yes. Pick several .json files and download each YAML separately or all of them in a ZIP.
