XML to JSON

Convert XML into JSON with attributes, repeated elements and CDATA. Safe against XXE, and your files are never uploaded.

Processed on your device: your file never leaves your computer

or click to choose them from your device

Up to 50 files, 50 MB max each.

What XML to JSON does

XML to JSON reads XML documents and turns them into JSON: each element is a key, attributes get a leading @, repeated elements form a list and CDATA content is kept as text. Values stay text, because XML has no types: 007 stays 007.

Limits

  • Up to 50 files at a time, up to 50 MB each.
  • With Pro: up to 500 files per batch.
  • A job that takes longer than 2 minutes is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.
  • Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to open an unknown XML file?

Yes. Documents that declare entities (<!ENTITY>), the way in for attacks like XXE or billion laughs, are refused with a warning before reading, and nothing is fetched from the internet.

Why are numbers quoted?

Because in XML everything is text, and guessing types could change data (leading zeros, codes). This way you get exactly what the file says.

Are comments kept?

No. Comments and processing instructions have no JSON equivalent and are left out; the rest of the content is kept.
