JSON to XML
Convert JSON into a valid, indented XML document, attributes included. In your browser.
Processed on your device: your file never leaves your computer
Up to 50 files, 50 MB max each.
What JSON to XML does
JSON to XML builds a well-formed XML document from your JSON data. Keys starting with @ are written as attributes and #text as the element's text; lists become repeated elements. If the JSON has a single key at the root, that key is the root element; otherwise everything goes inside <root>.
Limits
- Up to 50 files at a time, up to 50 MB each.
- With Pro: up to 500 files per batch.
- A job that takes longer than 2 minutes is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.
- Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.
Frequently asked questions
What about keys that aren't valid XML names?
They are fixed so the XML stays valid: spaces and symbols become underscores (my key → my_key) and a name starting with a digit gets a leading underscore.
How do I write attributes?
Use keys starting with @: {"book": {"@id": "1", "title": "Dune"}} produces <book id="1"><title>Dune</title></book>.
Are special characters escaped?
Yes. &, < and > in text and quotes in attributes are written as entities, so the result is always valid XML.
