Remove a PDF password
Remove the password from a PDF you can open: type it once and download a copy without a password or restrictions.
Processed on your device: your file never leaves your computer
Up to 50 files, 200 MB max each.
What Remove a PDF password does
If you have a protected PDF (a bank statement, an invoice or a work document) and you’re tired of typing the password every time, type it here once and get an unencrypted copy. It also removes print or copy restrictions if you know the permissions password. It can’t open other people’s PDFs: the right password is required.
Limits
- Up to 50 files at a time, up to 200 MB each.
- With Pro: up to 500 files per batch.
- A job that takes longer than 5 minutes is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.
- Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Can it find a password I don’t know?
No. The tool only removes the password if you type it correctly. We don’t try passwords or break the encryption.
Which password do I type?
The one you use to open the PDF. If the PDF opens without a password but won’t let you print or copy, type the permissions (owner) password.
Is anything in the document lost?
No. Only the encryption is removed; text, images, forms and links stay the same.
Are my PDF and password uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser and nothing leaves your device.
