Up to 50 files, 100 MB max each.

What Remove EXIF metadata does

Remove EXIF metadata erases the information you can't see but that travels with the file: the GPS location where the photo was taken, the camera or phone make and model, the date and time, the software used and the author. Before erasing, we show you what each photo contained. For JPG, PNG and WEBP the image is not compressed again: the same image data is copied without the metadata, so quality is identical. JPGs keep only their orientation, so the photo doesn't show sideways, and their color profile. HEIC files are saved as JPG without metadata. Everything happens in your browser.

Limits

  • Up to 50 files at a time, up to 100 MB each.
  • With Pro: up to 500 files per batch.
  • A job that takes longer than 2 minutes is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.
  • Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Why remove metadata before sharing a photo?

A phone photo can carry the exact coordinates of your home or workplace. Many social networks remove them, but email, chat attachments and cloud links usually send the original file.

Does the photo lose quality?

Not for JPG, PNG or WEBP: the image data is copied byte for byte. Only HEIC files are saved again, as high-quality JPG.

What is kept?

What's needed to display the photo correctly: the orientation (JPG) and the color profile. GPS, camera, dates, software, author, thumbnails, XMP, IPTC and comments are removed.

How do I check the location is gone?

Run the clean photo through this tool again: it should say it found no metadata. You can also check the file's properties on your computer.
