What HTML to Markdown does
HTML to Markdown turns the content of a web page, an email or a CMS export into easy-to-edit Markdown: # headings, lists, bold, links, images, tables and fenced code blocks with a language. Scripts, styles and forms are dropped. Great for moving content to GitHub, Notion, Obsidian or a static site generator.
Limits
- Up to 50 files at a time, up to 5 MB each.
- With Pro: up to 500 files per batch.
- A job that takes longer than 1 minute is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.
- Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Does anything in the HTML run?
No. The HTML is parsed as inert text: scripts don’t run and no images or external resources are loaded.
What happens to styles, colors and layout?
Markdown has no styles: the structure (headings, lists, tables, emphasis) is kept and colors, fonts and positions are lost.
Are tables kept?
Yes, as GitHub Markdown tables. Merged cells don’t exist in Markdown and are simplified.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
