Create EPUB
Turn Markdown or HTML into an EPUB book with a table of contents, chapters and images, ready for any reader. In your browser.
Processed on your device: your file never leaves your computer
Up to 50 files, 20 MB max each.
What Create EPUB does
Turn your Markdown or HTML texts into an EPUB 3 ebook that opens in Apple Books, Google Play Books, Kobo, Calibre and almost any reader. Each file is a chapter, in the order of the list, and within each one a new chapter starts at every main heading (# in Markdown, h1 in HTML). The table of contents is generated, images embedded in the file are included, and you can set the title, author and language. Everything happens in your browser.
Limits
- Up to 50 files at a time, up to 20 MB each.
- With Pro: up to 500 files per batch.
- A job that takes longer than 2 minutes is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.
- Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.
Frequently asked questions
How are chapters split?
Each file starts a chapter, in the order of the list, and within each file a new chapter starts at every main heading (# in Markdown or h1 in HTML). The table of contents is built from those headings.
What about images?
Images embedded in the file itself (data URLs in PNG, JPG, GIF or WEBP) are included in the book. Images linked to the internet or to other files can't be downloaded and are replaced by their alternative text.
Does it work on Kindle?
Current Kindles accept EPUB through Amazon's "Send to Kindle", which converts it to their format. The file follows the EPUB 3 standard and also includes the EPUB 2 table of contents for older readers.
Is it safe?
Yes. The content is cleaned: scripts, event handlers, forms and javascript: links are removed. Your files aren't uploaded to any server.
