Processed on your device: your file never leaves your computer
Up to 50 files, 200 MB max each.
What Extract Audio from Video does
Keep only the sound of a video: the music of a clip, the talk of a recorded class or the audio of a WhatsApp video. With “Original” the track is copied as it is, without re-encoding: it takes seconds and keeps the exact quality (a phone video gives an M4A with AAC). If you prefer another format, pick MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG (Opus), M4A (AAC) or AIFF and the quality. It accepts MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM, several at once. Everything happens on your device: videos aren't uploaded to any server.
Limits
- Up to 50 files at a time, up to 200 MB each.
- With Pro: files up to 500 MB and up to 500 per batch.
- A job that takes longer than 15 minutes is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.
- Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Which format should I pick?
“Original” is the fastest and loses nothing: the audio keeps the format it already had inside the video (almost always AAC, in an .m4a file that iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac open). Pick MP3 for maximum compatibility, or WAV/FLAC to edit it.
Why did my file come out as MP3 with “Original”?
Some audio codecs have no format of their own to be copied into as they are (for example, the AC-3 of some films). Then it is converted to 192 kbps MP3 and the result says so.
Can I extract the audio of a YouTube video?
Only from files you already have on your device and have the right to use. This tool doesn't download videos from the internet.
Is there a limit?
Up to 200 MB per video on the free plan (500 MB with Pro) and 3 hours of audio. The main audio track is extracted. Converting the AAC audio of an MP4 to another format needs a browser that reads AAC (Chrome, Edge or Safari); “Original” works in all of them.
