DXF converter
Convert DXF drawings from AutoCAD, LibreCAD or QCAD to SVG, PNG or PDF in your browser, with nothing to install.
Processed on your device: your file never leaves your computer
Up to 50 files, 50 MB max each.
What DXF converter does
Turn a DXF drawing into an SVG to edit it in Inkscape or Illustrator or send it to a laser or vinyl cutter, a PNG to view or share it as a picture, or a PDF (A4 or A3) to print it. It draws lines, polylines (curved segments too), circles, arcs, ellipses, splines, solids, points, single-line and multiline texts, inserted blocks (with scale, rotation and arrays) and dimensions, in each entity's or layer's color. Layers that are off or frozen aren't drawn. When the file states its units (mm, cm, m or inches), the SVG has the real size. Everything happens on your device: the drawings aren't uploaded to any server.
Limits
- Up to 50 files at a time, up to 50 MB each.
- With Pro: up to 500 files per batch.
- A job that takes longer than 2 minutes is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.
- Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Which entities aren't drawn?
Hatches (HATCH), embedded images, regions and 3D solids, multileaders, tables and block attributes. If the drawing has any, we tell you which ones and how many were left out when it's done. Only model space is drawn, not layouts (paper space).
Can I convert DWG files?
No. DWG is a closed Autodesk format and the engines that read it are GPL (LibreDWG) or commercial (ODA), so we can't include them. From AutoCAD, BricsCAD, DraftSight, LibreCAD or the free ODA File Converter you can save the drawing as DXF and convert it here.
Is the scale kept?
Yes: coordinates are copied unchanged and, when the DXF states its units ($INSUNITS in mm, cm, m or inches), the SVG is written at that real size, ready to print or cut 1:1. Without units, the longest side is 1000 pixels. Lines are thin and uniform (the file's lineweights aren't read).
Why do texts use a different font?
AutoCAD SHX fonts can't be embedded: texts are written in a sans-serif font (Arial or similar) at the same height, so their width may differ slightly. The usual MTEXT formatting codes are understood (paragraphs, Ø, °, ±).
Is there a limit?
Up to 50 MB per file (text DXF; binary DXF isn't read), 5 million points once curves are drawn, blocks nested up to 16 levels and arrays of up to 10,000 copies, and 2 minutes of processing per file.
What do the PNG and the PDF look like?
The PNG has the width you choose (1000, 2000 or 4000 pixels on the longest side), with a white or transparent background. The PDF is vector, one A4 or A3 page turned to match the drawing's shape, with the drawing fitted inside a 10 mm margin (not at 1:1 scale). In the PDF, texts with characters the standard font lacks (Chinese, Cyrillic…) are inserted as images.
