What Compress PDF does
Compress PDF makes the file smaller by re-encoding the photos inside it, which are usually why a PDF is heavy. Text, fonts and vector drawings are kept as they are. There are three levels: low (best quality), recommended and strong (smallest file).
Limits
- One file at a time, up to 200 MB.
- With Pro: files up to 1 GB and up to 500 per batch.
- A job that takes longer than 10 minutes is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.
- Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Why did my PDF barely shrink?
If the PDF is mostly text, or its images are already optimized, there's little to reduce. In that case Fileflect tells you instead of giving you a bigger file.
Does the text get blurry?
No. Only images are recompressed; text stays sharp, selectable and searchable.
Which level should I pick for email or WhatsApp?
Recommended is usually enough. If the file is still large, try strong: photos lose some detail but the document stays readable.
