Up to 50 files, 50 MB max each.

What Compress image does

Compress image re-encodes your photos so they take less space without changing their pixel size. Pick a level (low, recommended or strong) or an exact maximum size, like the 100 KB or 200 KB many online forms ask for: we find the best quality that fits and, if that is not enough, scale the image down. PNG files are optimized losslessly at the low level and reduced to a color palette at the others. You can also switch to WEBP or AVIF, which are smaller at the same quality. Everything happens in your browser, and metadata (such as GPS location) is removed.

Limits

  • Up to 50 files at a time, up to 50 MB each.
  • With Pro: up to 500 files per batch.
  • A job that takes longer than 5 minutes is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.
  • Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will my photo get?

It depends on the photo: a phone JPG usually drops 40% to 80% at the recommended level. If the image was already optimized and can't get smaller, you get the original back unchanged.

How do I get a photo under 100 KB for a form?

Choose “Exact file size” and the 100 KB button (or type another size). The result is at most that size; if needed its pixel size is reduced too, and we tell you by how much.

Why was my PNG saved as JPG?

In exact-size mode PNG files are saved as JPG, because PNG has no quality setting. If your PNG has transparency, choose WEBP to keep it.

Do I lose quality?

With JPG, WEBP and AVIF, a little: the low level is barely noticeable and the strong level favors size. PNG at the low level loses nothing.
