Remove image background
Remove the background from photos of people, products or pets and download a transparent PNG or a version over a color.
Processed on your device: your file never leaves your computer
Up to 50 files, 30 MB max each.
What Remove image background does
Separates the main subject of the photo (a person, a product, a pet, an object) and removes the background: download a PNG with a transparent background for slides, online stores or designs, or a JPG over white or the color you pick. It uses a small AI model (U²-Net) that runs on your device: the photo isn't uploaded to any server. You can process several photos at once.
Limits
- Up to 50 files at a time, up to 30 MB each.
- With Pro: up to 500 files per batch.
- A job that takes longer than 3 minutes is stopped so it doesn't freeze your device.
- Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Which photos work best?
Photos with a clear main subject that stands out from the background: a portrait, a product on a table, a pet, an object. With very busy backgrounds, several subjects of the same size or a subject filling almost the whole photo, the result can be imprecise. Very fine edges (loose hair, fur, branches) come out softened.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The model is downloaded once from our site (about 19 MB, less compressed) and then everything happens in your browser. Neither the photo nor the result leaves your device.
Which format do I get?
With a transparent background, PNG (the common format that keeps transparency everywhere). With a white or colored background, JPG, lighter and accepted anywhere. The photo keeps its original size.
Can I use it for an ID photo?
Yes: remove the background with the white option (or light blue, with a color) and then use the ID photo maker to crop it to the document size. Always check the requirements: some offices don't accept edited photos.
Are there limits?
Up to 30 MB and 40 megapixels per photo, in JPG, PNG, WEBP, AVIF, GIF (first frame) or BMP, and up to 3 minutes per photo. The model looks at the image at 320 × 320 and the cutout is scaled to the original size, so the edges are soft: it isn't a pixel-precise manual cutout.
